Native American artists from the Navajo and Ute tribes create, hand-paint, and sign each piece. The painted image wraps around the entire piece, highlighted with a bear on one side, a forest scene with a soaring eagle on the other, and bear tracks along the bottom. This type of pottery is used in wedding ceremonies of some Southwestern tribes. The bride drinks blessed water from one spout, then the groom drinks from the other; this symbolizes two people coming together to form one whole.
