Michael Furtman has been writing about and photographing nature and the outdoors full time for 23 years. His essay “God’s Swamp” earned him a first place award in the 2003 Natural History writing category from the Outdoor Writers Association of America. In 2003, Ducks Unlimited named him Conservation Communicator of the Year, and in 2002, he received Trout Unlimited’s Communications in Coldwater Conservation Award. Furtman also is the recipient of OWAA’s prestigious Jade of Chiefs conservation award. Furtman is the author of fourteen books and countless magazine articles.
