In 1993, Bert and Sharon Hopeman moved to Bozeman and began the journey of opening a new business called the Montana Gift Corral. The idea came from noticing that Main Street lacked an upscale, but affordable, gift shop with exceptional service that offered products desired by the locals and the 1,000,000 or more tourists that visited downtown.
The store was an instant success and offered bath & body products, gourmet food, house accessories, holiday decorations, silver jewelry, western book selections, and western wear clothing. It had gifts ranging between $5 and $5,000, with most priced under $30.
Three years later the Gift Corral, as locals like to call it, started a catalog that lasted until 1998 at which time it morphed into a web site offering many of the western gifts and house accessories that the store carried. The original store and web site were joined by other stores in 2002, 2003 and 2005. Currently, the Gift Corral has stores in downtown Bozeman, Montana, the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Bozeman, two in the local airport and one in the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park about 60 miles west of Bozeman.
The company’s web site languished until 2006 when the company decided to put greater emphasis on it. They built a fulfillment center and hired a new web manager the next year. The site’s sales grew each year thereafter but didn’t live up to its full potential. In 2008, the company decided to redo their web site completely and launched their new site in May 2009. The new site is vastly more customer friendly and is designed to attract much more search engine traffic.
The site has seven major categories to choose from: Western Bath & Body, Western Decor, Food & Drink, Western Entertainment, Western Jewelry, Western Wear, and Christmas Decorations.
The company’s new fulfillment center allows it to provide an extremely high level of customer service and timely operations.
To all of you, from all of us at Montana Gift Corral - Thank you and Happy Shopping!
