Western Bluebird Clip-On Ornament by Old World Christmas
The crafting of Glass Ornaments is a practice steeped in tradition. At Merck Family's Old World Christmas, they are keeping that tradition alive and well. The Western Bluebird is one of their Glass Ornaments which are created following the practices of 19th century glassblowers.
Molten glass is mouth-blown into carved molds, and then hot liquid silver is poured inside. This process was resurrected in Spokane, Washington by Tim and Beth Merck who have been enchanted by the European Christmas traditions all their lives. Birds are symbols of happiness and joy, so they are a necessity on the Christmas tree. Glassblowers often kept birds during the winter since the sound of the gas flame in the workshop prompted them to sing.
This bird measures 4” tall and includes a branch clip. These Glass Ornaments are true holiday gems that will add style and brightness to your collection of Christmas Tree Ornaments.
