The year 1917 saw many things happening in the world. America hadn't even been a country for one-hundred-and-fifty-years yet, and we were about to enter into the largest war the modern world had seen. By the time America entered into WWI, Montana was a new state. Despite being less than thirty-years-old, Montana worked to aid the war effort. However, devastation swept through the streets of the small farming communities. Smallpox, diphtheria, influenza, and scarlet fever wreaked havoc on the populations, leaving some towns empty except for the ghosts left behind. In A Country Doctor and the Epidemics by Steven D. Helgerson you will get to journey alongside the fictional, Doctor Harvey, as he witnesses the tragedy unfolding around him. A Country Doctor and the Epidemics by Steven D. Helgerson recounts the extraordinary events that tore at the social fabric of the community during two of Montana's most turbulent years.
