What began as a simple gift of pottery lessons has grown into one of Bozeman’s most beloved traditions. In the late 1970s, Jennie Lockie surprised her husband, David, with a chance to try his hand at clay, and it turned out he had quite the knack for it. By 1980, the couple had transformed an old chicken coop in their backyard into a working pottery studio, where their handcrafted pieces quickly caught the attention of both locals and Yellowstone travelers. Decades later, Mountain Art Pottery is still a family affair, now led by their son Josh and his wife Kathy. Alongside their beautiful pottery, the family also operates The Coffee Pot, a cozy bakery and café that has become a community favorite!
